A Biosphere Reborn
Gorgeous Greens: Nature’s Favourite Colour (and Yours!)
Ever noticed how green just pops? That’s no accident! Humans can see more shades of green than any other color, thanks to how our eyes evolved. Deep in our retinas, millions of photoreceptor cells—especially the “green-sensitive” cones—tune in to green wavelengths more precisely than red or blue. Our early, primarily forest-dwelling, ancestors relied on this to spot fresh leaves and ripe fruit in dense forests.
Today, this superpower still serves us—from picking the perfect avocado to finding calm in a lush forest. In fact, green is so easy on our eyes that it’s used in everything from sniper recovery routines to low-stress lighting in hospitals.
Nature knew what it was doing: green doesn’t just look good—it feels good, too!
